Wind-stable parasols up to 100 km/h

Windproof parasols

Windproof parasols

Some Glatz parasol models are designed to be especially wind-resistant for use in sensitive locations, such as elevated sites (rooftop terraces, hills or mountains), sparsely developed areas and foehn valleys, lakeshores, promenades and coastal regions. Particularly suitable here are wind-stable centre-pole parasols. We especially recommend the models of the F-line, the Palazzo line and the Castello Pro. Important: side-mast parasols are not suitable for locations exposed to extremely windy conditions.

Wind stability and stylish ergonomics

In addition to a wind stability of up to 100 km/h per hour (varies depending on the model), Glatz always focuses on attractive ergonomics: other priorities include easy and comfortable operation of the parasol and a timeless design.

Windproof parasols: wind stability up to 100 km/h

Tested in the wind tunnel

Besides design, functionality, equipment and size, wind resistance is also a decisive factor in the choice of parasol, especially in wind-exposed locations. Depending on the wind conditions and the size of the outdoor area, it is necessary to choose the optimal parasol. We test our parasol models not only in terms of functionality and handling, but also for their wind resistance in the wind tunnel. Before being released for sale, each GLATZ parasol is firmly placed in an anchored support tube inside the wind tunnel and gradually subjected to increasing wind forces. During each wind-speed stage, the changes and damage to the respective parasol model are noted in a protocol and analysed. If necessary, the parasol is revised or adjusted accordingly. After major revisions and adjustments, it is once again "off to the tube" for the parasol models. We indicate our wind-resistance data in kilometres per hour (km/h) and Beaufort (Bft), with the kilometre per hour figure being the binding one.

Countless parasol combinations

Customising your windproof parasol is extremely easy. Windproof parasols come in round, rectangular or square shapes. The Glatz parasol configurator enables you to choose your preferred size, shape, fabric colour, fabric quality and fixation method. Glatz recommends a centre-pole parasol that is not too large with a permanent ground fixation for locations that are highly exposed to the wind. It is better to have several parasols than just one that is too large. A wall console is not permitted for such locations.

Extensive original accessories

All windproof parasols come with fully compatible extras such as lighting, protective covers, motorisation and ground fixations.

Frequently asked questions about wind-stable parasols

If you’re looking for a parasol for a wind-exposed location, we always recommend a centre-pole parasol that is not too big, and with a fixed ground fixation. Side-mast parasols are not suitable for locations exposed to extremely windy conditions.

All windproof Glatz parasols are only available in corrosion-resistant aluminium.

Aluminium is a very low-maintenance material. Nevertheless, any dirt should be wiped with a damp cloth and then dried with a soft cloth. Dry dirt on the fabric can be brushed off with a soft brush. For heavier stains, a ph-neutral detergent can be used, which should subsequently be rinsed off thoroughly.

Only materials that meet the industry standard for outdoor items are used in the manufacture of Glatz parasols. Regardless of this high technical standard, weather-related wear and tear will occur over time and cannot be avoided. For the greatest possible protection, we recommend that you store your parasol under cover during the winter months and that you use an original Glatz protective cover.
