Flexible shade for liveable cities

Public spaces, pedestrian zones, school playgrounds and other heavily used urban spaces need solutions that quickly provide shade and enhance the quality of time spent outdoors. Parasols offer flexible shading without extensive construction work and create pleasant places to retreat to in the urban environment.

Glatz develops sun protection solutions that can be specifically tailored to the requirements of cities, municipalities and landscape architects. In addition to protection from the sun, the focus is on high wind stability, easy operation and harmonious integration into the existing architecture.

Individually tailored to the urban space

Whether a modern city square, a historic old town or a public meeting place: the parasols can be adapted to their surroundings in many different ways. Various sizes and shapes, more than 70 fabric designs and frame colours in a range of RAL shades allow for a design that blends harmoniously into the cityscape or deliberately sets accents.

Stability also plays an important role at exposed locations. Glatz large parasols are tested in a wind tunnel and, depending on the model and version, are designed to withstand high wind speeds. This makes them ideal for public spaces where reliable sun protection is required over long periods.

Temporary shade, flexible use

Not every public square is meant to be permanently redesigned. Mobile shading solutions therefore offer advantages, especially for seasonal or changing uses. City squares, weekly markets, play areas or event spaces can be shaded precisely where needed and later used differently. This creates shade wherever it is required – combined with a high degree of design freedom and without major interventions in the existing urban space.
