the death of customer service (part 2) - Best Buy versus the customer
Another tale from the dark side of customer experienceland... I could make a career out of writing these down, but it would be too depressing. :)
A few weeks ago I realized it had been three years since I had updated my primary developer computer. That's almost two lifetimes! I wanted to get a quad-core box that could run 64 bit Vista and support more than the 3 GB of memory that a standard Vista box can handle. And yeah, I know, I shoulda got a new Mac instead, but I like developing on PC because 80% of the folks who see the sites I develop are on Windows, plus I have a sizable investment in software tools. I'm slowly transitioning to doing more and more dev on my Macbook, though, and will likely make the full switch within the year.
But for right now, I needed a new box, and needed it bad! I live out in the country, and a trip to Fry's is a couple of hours for me. I looked on Amazon, but couldn't find much between the low-end machines and the overpriced ones.
